Promoting participation and inclusion in PE, Sports and Physical Activity – secondary phase.
Covid disrupted research projects finally reach their end!
Despite the significant challenges posed by Covid, not least the necessary extension of this project from 2 years to 3, the two externally funded research projects currently underway in CTSA member schools will finally draw to a close in July.
Improving participation in PE, Sport and Physical Activity through Teacher Development in the Secondary Phase, funded by Sport England and the National Lottery
This project has produced a variety of case studies which demonstrate the value of using student voice to inform the design of an inclusive and engaging PE curriculum in KS3 and 4, and also the kind of activities which motivate the maximum number of students to participate in PE and physical activity. In turn this serves to reduce the number of students having a negative experience of PE in secondary school, as well as increase the likelihood that they will continue to lead more active, healthier lifestyles – both core to the aims of Sport England.
These case studies will, in due course, be made available via Sport England, but we will also ensure that all CTSA member schools have access to them.
The Project Leads will be meeting termly to share and explore their emerging findings, and the final outcomes will be published in the summer of 2021.
