Research and Development

CTSA continues to work with Paul Hamlyn Foundation in a project funded by their Teacher Development Fund. The project is now in its final year, and focuses on Musicianship and School readiness. In the first phase, the emphasis was on the Reception year, developing teacher confidence in delivering group music sessions and incorporating music into continuous provision. In this final year. Most of the schools are working to continue this practice into Year 1, and also develop sustainability for the future. The Project is due to report in July 2022.

We also have 6 secondary schools who continue to work with Sport England to develop participation in PE, Sport and Physical activity by increasing teacher knowledge and skills in providing a broad and enriched PE curriculum. Schools have identified opportunities for teacher CPD focused on health related fitness, gym circuits, Zumba and dance fitness, yoga and boxercise, among others. The aim is to use student voice to inform the development of a curriculum offer which is engaging, and overcomes barriers to participation, particularly for girls. The Project is due to report in the Autumn of 2022.
